Things are not Always as They Appear
If you joined in for our 29 July walk to South Volcano Ridge Loop, you will have realized that no, Alberta does not have a volcano…even though the mountain appears to be such. Illusions (mis-perceptions) and delusions (mis-judgments) are ubiquitous…or are they? Which brings me to this month’s picture and tag-line: ‘embodiment: it’s not what you think’ and the crux of Body-Mind Centering®. Language is essential in communication AND it can be misleading. How can we speak of our total unified experience when words split our experience into a dichotomy of body…mind. BMC is an exploration of movement of the body-mind. Our bodies change, manifest, and express our thoughts, feelings, and spirit. As our mind is, so is our body; as our body is, so is our mind. This is our body-mind, our embodiment. What about ‘centering’? This could imply a location, where the periphery is related to something in the middle. In the context of BMC, centering is about balancing…about seeking relationship between perception…movement…in gross movement to micro movements…of relating consciousness of tissues in our bodies with their inherent expression. Not placing something upon our tissues but allowing the manifestation of them. Can we stay open enough within our experience to touch upon the balancing of our body-mind? It’s simple…or is it?
